*There are 5 sets of these earrings available, enter how many you would like under quantity. They are all in the same wood and similar in size, but each one is unique- thus the beauty of handmade.*
These earrings were created by my husband Jeff in spalted beech wood. Can you believe how amazing this wood is?! Wow.
The story behind the wood: there was a beech tree we loved in the front yard, but grew to be quite a large tree and was too close to the house. We needed to have it removed, so made use of every bit of the beech wood- from firewood to woodworking.
Though it is a beautiful wood, these spalted pieces are a different beauty altogether- they are incredible! The colors and designs are amazing. There is a different pattern in the grain of each earring, and they are all so beautiful. They all remind us of desert scenes and a few pieces look like pinnacles in a desert! Jeff said this wood reminds him of picture jasper stone. There are lines in the grain that look like beams of light radiating out from a bright center. Just wow! I'm not sure if pictures can even do these justice.
There is a warmth to this wood, and I love the shape of these. Jeff sands and polishes the earrings so smooth, you'll love the way they feel. (These feel especially silky smooth to me.) All the sanding and polishing also brings out the beauty of the wood, and makes it glow.
Most of our wood earrings are surprisingly lightweight, even with the dense woods. (Our most lightweight earrings are the smaller ones, and ones in red cedar.) These earrings come on sterling silver plated ear wires.
We are calling these limited edition because these are the only earrings like this. We have five pairs of these available, and when they are sold, they're gone! If you find them calling out to you, perhaps a pair of these earrings were meant to be yours. :)
Made for the nature lover, may they bring you joy every time you wear them!
Measurements: Around 1 & 1/8 inches wide (at widest point.) Around 1 & 3/8 inches tall.
These earrings have gone through a process to stabilize the spalted wood, more on that below.

Beautiful wood + lots of sanding + natural oil finish + polishing on the buffing wheel + a whole lotta love = some gorgeous and unique jewelry for you to enjoy. With so many fun designs and variations to choose from, we hope you'll find something you'll love!

*These earrings have gone through a process to stabilize the spalted wood. This is a write-up from Jeff about the process to keep the bark on certain woods, which is the same process. A note from Jeff: "A lot of folks like the look of buttons with the bark still on them, but this isn't possible with most woods because the bark will come off right away. So I came up with a method of adhering the bark with a special inert (non-toxic) adhesive that permeates the bark then holds it to the main wood. Any adhesive on the surface of the button is then sanded and polished off. This gives a really nice look especially with Hemlock and Sassafras."
